Giddy up... the madness is almost here!

I know there are lots of moms who are all, "I only get 18 summers with them before they grow up!" and "I love spending time with my kids!" and I am not that mom. I think I kind of was pre-AFE, I certainly could fake it easily, but for the most part, I literally count down the days before school starts. Frankly, by the time August rolls around I feel like we've had too much together time and we need to separate. Combine that with my love of shopping and school supplies and August becomes one of my most favorite times of year.
I spend a lot of time doing school shopping with the big kids but as they get older the less compliant they are and they argue with me over everything. I did all of the school supplies on my own because quite frankly, I don't give a hot damn if you don't like your notebook colors, you get what you get. No designed anything because you will get the cheapest folders and notebooks they have. You won't die, I promise you.

School clothes shopping really sucks right now. They are very particular on what the will and won't wear, they are in really weird sizes (Olivia is size 000 pants- only one store has those and that is Aeropostle), and I fully understand their desire to have "cool" clothes to fit in. I get it, I was the same way. I didn't get my way but I'm in a position where we can reasonably compromise so we do. But lord alive- Jackson is a fashion snob and will only wear certain colors, skinny jeans (but they can't squeeze his ankles), button up shirts (that he can roll the sleeves but it's not too tight), sweatshirts with a hood (but they can't make his head look pointy like a gnome), etc.

But I can say two trips to Kohl's, one trip to the mall, and one trip to Target and we are DONE. I'm also grateful I went to get their shoes in early August because almost everything was totally picked over this weekend.

A new school year brings activities so I had to order my new planner for 2019.
I splurged on an Erin Condren Life Planner (horizontal layout if you're curious) because this year I cheaped out and got an Erin Condren knock off from Michaels and it was terrible. The front and back covers are forever falling off, my pages rip out easily, the coil is wonky so sometimes you can't open it all the way and it's just crap. So I spent more money but I know it's worth it because I've had one before and I use my planner more than enough to justify the cost. This is my brain on paper. Everything goes in it and I always have it on me. I already have it marked up with my 2019 doctor appointments and school calendar.

Now if we can just decide on where Olivia is dancing this year, that would be great. Sigh.

Yay for a new planner. I've never had an Erin Condren one, but I hear good things. Oh gosh, shopping with Jackson must be a CHORE. hah I'm glad it's all finished though!!
