Love's Prophecy

Oh man. I am so stinking excited to review this book for you and I'm even more thrilled to find out it's the first in a series. My cold little heart is about bursting with excitement. As is my vagina. Just being honest.

Love's Prophecy - Brenda Dyer
Love's Prophecy (Book One of The Prophecy Series)
Dark warriors of might...

Mel is a vampire warrior sworn to hunt and kill demons in the dark streets of Vancouver. But he's burdened with a new assignment: find the meaning behind the Vampire Prophecy. Having no faith in the gods and their empty words, he believes there's no truth to the ancient legend until he meets Breeana, a human woman who bears the mark of the prophecy and resembles the mysterious woman haunting his dreams. When a vengeful demon spies Breeana in his arms, she is marked for death. He must take her from the world she knows until he can eliminate the threat. But the real danger is the role Breeana must play in fulfilling the prophecy and the intense feelings she brings out in him. Mel is forced to choose between his obligations to his kind, the world, and the woman he loves. Can he turn his back on love to let her go, or will he risk her life and bind her to him for all eternity?

Small warriors of light...

Veterinarian, Dr. Breeana Spencer yearns for love and companionship, but the disappointment of failed relationships have taken their toll. She now finds solace in romance novels. But when she meets a mysterious stranger, she's drawn to him by a connection so forceful it shatters all reason, leaving her incapable of resisting him. Yet there's more to him than smoldering good looks and a rock-hard body. As she's drawn deeper into his danger-filled world, she learns she's part of an ancient vampire legend. Breeana fears her future is no longer hers and will not include Mel. As their enemies close in, desperate to destroy them both, she must fight to convince Mel her place is at his side. A life-altering choice is before her—one that will take all her courage and love to make.

Right off the bat I will tell you that I flew through the 325 pages in a flash. It's a romance novel that isn't over the top. It's the perfect mix of awesome characters, a really good story line, vampires, and some pretty solid sex scenes.

Here's what I liked about the story the best:

  • I really love Breanna. I really love Breanna. I love that she openly admits she is holding out for a romance story lover, preferrably a vampire. I mean, aren't we all?
  • I love Mel because he's a strong character, with an impossibly tragic back story that pulls you in.
  • I love the entire demons vs. vampire story line. In recent years I've discovered I'm really enjoying books with a supernatural story line and this one is really good without being crazy and over the top.
  • Aside from the biting, the sex scenes are more realistic. I love me some filthy romance novels, but even I start to feel like 6 orgasms in a span of an hour is really fabulous but totally make believe. Part of the draw of a romance novel is that you kind of want to pretend it's you and the scenes in this book make it easier to believe you could be the one being tossed around on the bed.
Immediately after the book I wanted another book. I had no idea that this was intended to be a series until I went to Amazon to get buy link for the book, and I'm not kidding- I was thrilled. I will be honest, even half way through this book I was thinking there could be so many spin off stories with the other vampires we met in this book especially when the author revealed that two other women had been discovered with the birth mark. Which, you don't know what that means, but trust me, the birth mark Breanna has is kind of a big part of the story.

I super duper hope that the next book that comes out in this series is one open for bloggers to review because I am anxious to read it. And secretly hoping and crossing my fingers that it's Kal's story next. *please, please, please*

Overall? 5 out of 5 stars. LOVED IT.

Wow, Sara...all I can say is you R.O.C.K! And the fact LP made your little heart and vagina burst with excitement is the best praise a writer could ever receive.
