Asphyxiation?

So I've been sick. Normally I don't get sick and if I do it's never to the degree where I need to actually be in bed for the entire day hoping I don't die.

But yesterday that's exactly what happened. I woke up with a raging fever and I just couldn't do life. So I checked out for the day, slept basically all day, and I'm back at it today with a head cold. Which I'll take over a fever and hoping my body does its job and fights those dirty bugs.

During my sick day I opted to take a ridiculously hot shower because I had gotten a headache and sometimes if I take a really hot shower it helps, so I'm in there, showering, and I start coughing. And you know what I'm talking about. You just start coughing and your body does it without your consent and all of a sudden, you can't breath. You have a lump of phlegm half in your throat, doesn't know where to go, you're in the middle of coughing and vomiting, and your body is trying to do you a solid by getting rid of this but forgetting that you can no longer breathe?

It was then that I wondered- how many people die of asphyxiation this way? Surely I'm not the only one that felt like they were going to die in a shower because of phlegm.

But never fear peeps, I'm back. And I have a book review coming today, one Friday, and tomorrow? Well tomorrow I'll tell you about Spank. Oh yes, I'm going to a play called Spank, and it's a parody of Fifty Shades of Gray and it's going to be awesome.

Honestly... when I read this title I thought this was something new you were trying with Matt. ;)

But then I remembered that you were on your death bed and sexy times is the last thing you're thinking of.

At least you'll lose some weight being sick? Glass is half full, right?

This happened to me last cold...TMI and all but I was driving at the time. Thankfully I was alone in the car but coughing, suddenly needing to vomit the phlem which conveniently gets caught in that spot where it won'c come up, wont' go down and oh yeah, try to pull over so you don't kill others. Thankfully I had an almost empty cup of coffee in the cup holder. Felt like a hour, happened in seconds. I hope you feel better soon.

This happened to me last cold I had. I was driving though, thanfully by myself. One second coughing, the next trying to vomit and the phlem gets stuck in that spot where it won't come up, won't go down (equally as gross) and hold on just for grins, try to get the car off the road without killing others. I hope you feel better soon.

That sounds like an interesting play!

Hope you are feeling better. I've never felt like I was asphyxiating from phlegm caused coughing but I have felt like I was going to suffocate because I was sneezing so much and so hard that I couldn't breathe in because I couldn't stop sneezing.

I kept thinking "OMG! the headline will be 'Local Woman Sneezes to Death' with an article on the unexpected danger of seasonal allergies"
