Being Me

Oh lambs. I'm reading a series by Lisa Renee Jones and I cannot stop. My kids are eating cereal for dinner and Matt had toast. Things are bad. But when things are bad, you know the book is good.

Being Me - Lisa Renee Jones
Being Me (Inside Out, #2)
Fascinated by the dark fantasies in the journals she’s discovered, and the two men who have now found a place in her life, Sara McMillan finds herself torn between her new life and her past. Now, more than ever, Sara identifies with the lost journal writer, Rebecca, and is certain that something sinister has happened.

In the arms of the sexy, tormented artist Chris Merit, Sara seeks answers about Rebecca and ends up discovering things about herself she never knew existed. Chris forces Sara to reconsider who she is and what she truly wants from life, but not before his dark desires threaten to tear them apart. Her boss, Mark Compton, offers her the shelter to understand just what those needs mean to her, and what they might have meant to Rebecca, but can she trust him to lead her to a final conclusion to Rebecca’s story?

Is it even possible to love Chris any more? Yes. Yes it is, because here I am. In this book I'm more annoyed with Sara. In the first book she alludes to some super deep, dark secret that would send Chris packing if he knew and then we find out what that is in this book. And.... there better be more to it because that was lame. But nevertheless, their undoing in this book is what happens to someone important to Chris. It sends him over the edge and Sara gets a glimpse of what is really going on with him.

We also find out what happens to Rebecca. I still have a few unanswered questions but maybe those will come in book three, but maybe they won't. It's not that they are important so much, but as a reader, I'm curious. And Mark, holy hell. I don't know what to think about Mark. I think he is not what Sara needs in her life and I think Chris is right about him. When meet the other guy in Rebecca's journal and immediately I thought he came off as a total douchebag, and I was right. Gross. But what I loved about this book is that there is such a struggle between Chris and Sara as they figure out what the hell their relationship is and what it can be. She's a runner and she keeps saying she won't run and she does. Chris does a bit of that himself in this book but what drives me crazy is how inflexible Sara is. She just won't give when she needs to and I think she reacts kind of irrationally. BUT, I'm freaking hooked because the sex scenes in here are great and I am so hoping that Chris and Sara make it. I really am!
